In Harmony has been an invaluable part of our work at Human Rights for Kids. Cherice has worked miracles in helping us become a more trauma-informed organization and has expanded our capacity to deliver results for the vulnerable communities that we serve. From updating organizational policies with trauma-informed approaches to developing resource materials to assist formerly incarcerated youth with voting rights restoration, her work has been exceptional and has made us a better organization.
Cherice is a critical partner to the Liberation in Practice and the Girls at the Margin National Alliance bodies of work at Justice and Joy National Collaborative. In addition to the diverse set of skills and expertise that Cherice utilizes to support practical work, especially in the areas of racial and gender liberation, we have deeply appreciated Cherice’s efforts toward ensuring that the partnership is rooted in a liberatory praxis. This approach allows us to intentionally make the connections between a liberatory strategy and practical application. The work with the Girls at the Margin National Alliance (G@TM) requires supporting and holding space for stakeholders representing a wide array of work areas and interests, including funders, direct service providers, and government representatives. Cherice’s facilitation rooted in equity and community connection has been integral in developing a culture of collaboration, reciprocity, and shared abundance. Cherice also provides direct policy and social advocacy expertise through the monthly calls, and opportunities for additional connection through the listserv. When we set the goal of re-envisioning and reimagining the alliance, Cherice critically helped us develop a set of core values and strategies that could serve as the north star for the reimagined work. This included identifying key stakeholders that would help us expand our reach as we imagine collectively working toward liberation. I would be honored to work with Cherice again and am grateful for the partnership developed through her consultancy with us.
Cherice advised on a project related to preventing child sex trafficking and her contributions to the project were immensely helpful to its overall success. The professionalism, intelligence and compassion that she brought to the project helped ensure that the work remained centered on the voices of those who are less often centered, and her insights enhanced the goals of the project. Her thoughtful guidance, excellent writing skills and her understanding of key issues impacting those most impacted by trafficking, made her a strategic partner in developing the project with the goal of supporting impacted youth at its core. As a result of Cherice’s insights and contributions, we were able to expand the scope of the project and craft strategies for addressing complex new issues. Cherice’s ability to identify and develop key connections between our current work and where we hoped to move next was invaluable.
